Before the pressure starts
At 12 to 14, most students can't say what they want to study, and they shouldn't have to. Early Years Guidance gives them about six sessions with two to four mentors from different fields. A doctor explains a ward round. A lawyer explains a bad afternoon in court. Your child asks questions and starts to notice what interests them.
What happens in the sessions
Each session is a conversation with one mentor, with something to read or try beforehand. By the end your child has a short list of fields worth exploring, and a few things to do over the next year: a book, a competition, a shadowing request.
Who it's for
Students aged 12 to 14 who are curious but undecided, and parents who'd like the exploring done before Grade 9 rather than during it.
What comes next
Most students then move into portfolio work in Grade 9 or 10. Some pause for a year or two, and that's fine.
Tell us where your child is now.
We’ll tell you, honestly, what we’d do next.
